Efforts to boost economic sentiment have yet to bear fruit, as the consumer sentiment index dropped two points to 103 this month, according to the Bank of Korea.
The figure is lower than the level recorded just after the ferry disaster in April that seriously dented private consumption.
The central bank says the drop stems from sluggish domestic demand and worsening global economic conditions like the weakening Japanese yen and the reduced U.S. stimulus.
