New U.S. Envoy Busy Bogging, Tweeting

New U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Mark Lippert is exceptionally active on social media to endear himself with his host country.

On a blog chummily called "The Lipperts in Korea," he records his life in Korea, and most recently last Friday he described his meeting with President Park Geun-hye to present his credentials at Cheong Wa Dae on Nov. 21.

When the president asked him in English whether he is learning Korean, he replied in Korean, "I am a student studying Korean," he wrote.

Lippert delivered one minute of his thank-you speech in Korean on Monday when he attended a welcome party for him hosted by the Korea America Friendship Society.

Lippert is the youngest U.S. ambassador to Korea yet and also an avid Twitter user.

He recently posted about tofu stew and pork bulgogi, and wrote words of encouragement to Korean students who took the national college entrance exam on Nov. 13.
